A lot of Newcastle United supporters are annoyed with Steve Bruce’s suggestion that his front three is misfiring.
Speaking in his press conference before the West Ham game, Bruce claimed that he might change the personnel or system to stop his front three from misfiring, which has not gone down well with many Newcastle fans.
It is true that between Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Miguel Almiron, there has only been one goal and no assists.
Which for a strike force worth over £70m is shocking returns, but the main problem is not the front three – they are doing their best to create chances, but they need support from their teammates, and that is where Bruce’s system is not working.
Joelinton is often isolated – while Almiron and Saint-Maximin are separated from the rest of the Newcastle midfield and the wing-backs.
There is the possibility that Dwight Gayle will be brought in for his first start of the season, but will that mean Joelinton is dropped?
Or will Bruce try both of them up top?
It is unclear, but the Newcastle manager must find a solution to our goalscoring worries, and blaming the front three is not going to help.
See the best of the reaction below.
Andy Carroll back in Newcastle squad for visit to old club West Ham tomorrow – providing he comes through this morning’s training session. Schär, Ritchie & Lejeune all still out. Steve Bruce considering changing formation & selection with front 3 continuing to mis-fire #NUFC

Not the front 3s problem

Classic Bruce to blame the ‘miss-firing front 3’ when its his abysmal tactics that are starving them of service. Maybe, just maybe if we played 20 yards further up the pitch ASM/Almiron wont be running from their own half every time and Joelinton wont be totally isolated?

Mis-fire? We hardly have the ball ????????

I don’t think they are particularly mis-firing, they just don’t get enough of the ball. Poor Joelinton gets no service, no crosses into the box cant see it improving until Ritchie is back in the team.

Misfire…. Grow up man… How are they misfiring? Who’s creating chances for them…? How many crosses did we put in for joelinton against wolves? We play our two cms as extra centre halves it’s laughable at times… Get them up the pitch and get the midfield creating….
