‘Next Toon manager right there’ – Many NUFC fans adore video which crucifies rivals

Joey Barton has just thrown his hat into the ring for being the next Newcastle manager, according to some fans who are in admiration of his post-match interview after his Fleetwood side faced Sunderland.

The Cod Army manager poked fun at just how far Sunderland had fallen over the past few years, by claiming that the club had drenched the pitch all day as they were too scared of facing “little old Fleetwood Town”.

He went onto add that it was “very, very interesting” to see Sunderland – who were in the Premier League as recently as 2017 – celebrating a last-minute equaliser against Fleetwood “like they had won the World cup final”.

While Barton is obviously a long way away from the Premier League, he is doing an admirable job while on the North West coast, with his team currently overachieving by flirting with promotion to the Championship.

They are currently seventh place in the division, currently being kept outside the play-offs just on goal difference. However, with a game in hand, they are only 6 points behind top of the league, meaning they have a genuine shot of going up, amongst a whole other host of clubs.

Fans obviously enjoyed his interview, as you can read below…

Former Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has failed to endear himself to supporters despite a pretty successful start to life as head coach. The club has a seven-point buffer on the relegation and are in the final 16 of the FA Cup, which must have been taken before the season had started given the situation with Rafael Benitez, however, his attritional style of football has not gone down well.
