Plenty of Newcastle United fans on Twitter have responded to the latest report from the Shields Gazette about the rumoured takeover – and they aren’t particularly happy.
According to the report, ‘sources close to the talks’ revealed that the discussions regarding a takeover involving the Saudi sovereign wealth fund have ‘cooled’ due to negotiations being leaked last month.
The Gazette also claim that the Saudis could now be over United and onto another. It is said they could turn their attentions to the red side of Manchester, with the Red Devils being ‘a Premier League jewel in the crown, rather than relegation contenders’. Understandably, they will cost a lot more than the Magpies would, though, being valued at around £3billion.
It is said that Amanda Staveley’s involvement in the deal caused issues from both the buyer’s and seller’s perspective and that the leaks angered the main players behind the Saudi takeover.
Plenty of Newcastle supporters weren’t particularly happy with the report, claiming that the deal was never going to happen and they should stop reporting on it.

Love to hear one bit of reason as to why press leaks would stop you buying something you want.

With the deal looking completely off the cards, Newcastle fans will have to move on once more from another deal not happening. Though, given that they have had to deal with something like this before, it perhaps won’t be the hardest news to take.
Despite a decent season thus far, fans aren’t particularly happy with the state of affairs at the moment, especially with the style of football on display. They face Burnley on the weekend.
