News: Newcastle looking at classy Leeds man valued at £20m

|

A report in the Chronicle suggests that Newcastle United are monitoring the progress of Leeds’ Ben White.

The 22-year-old on loan from Brighton has had an amazing season so far and is already adored by the Elland Road faithful, but they will face a fight on their hands if they want to keep him.

Both Manchester United and Liverpool are keen on White, and now Newcastle have joined the chase.

It is easy to see why he has so many admirers just by looking at his stats from this season.

The 22-year-old, who is valued at £20m by Brighton, has an average rating of 7.25 makes on average 1.9 tackles and 2.7 interceptions per game and wins 3.3 aerial duels.

As well as this, he also played every single game for the tightest defence in the league – with the Whites only conceding ten goals in 18 matches this season.

On the ball as well, White is fantastic.

Marcelo Bielsa trusts him to carry the ball out of the defence, and he even provided an assist for Patrick Bamford against Luton Town last week.

White picked up the ball and just carried it to the edge of the area where he slipped Bamford through who fired home.

Do Newcastle have a chance in signing White?

Yes, we can offer him regular football

No, he has bigger targets than us

It is unclear how likely it is that Newcastle could sign White, but he is one to keep an eye on and do not be surprised to see him at the very top for years to come.

If we could somehow pull off a deal to sign him, it could be one of our best ever transfer deals.
