Steve Bruce has been dealt a huge boost with Newcastle’s most exciting attackers looking set to feature in the must win clash at Turf Moor.

Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson have been huge misses for the Magpies but both have a good chance of being in Bruce’s starting 11 to face Burnley this Sunday.

The former did make his return from the substitutes bench in the 2-2 draw with Spurs and his class was clear to see and the Frenchman was pivotal in the move for our equalising strike.

We seriously missed Wilson’s clinical touch in the draw and if the 29-year old had featured, I think we would have taken a huge leap on the journey to survival.

Bruce confirming to the press that the pair had trained all week and had a serious chance of being involved feels like a big moment.

If they are fit, they must start. It really is that simple. The duo were unavailable at exactly the wrong time and missed out on winnable games against West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa and Brighton and Hove Albion.

I genuinely believe that if they had been fit for those games, we would have recorded two wins from the three games and all but secured our survival but instead as a result of a lack of attacking inspiration and constant blunders from the head coach have left us right in the mix.

Other injury news from Bruce is that Ryan Fraser remains unavailable, Federico Fernandez and Ciaran Clark are back, Andy Carroll is a doubt and club captain Jamal Lascelles will miss the game.
