Newcastle United’s prospective Saudi takeover is still sat on the table of the Premier League after some three months of discussions.

Their owners and directors test has rumbled on, and on… and on, so nobody truly knows when the Magpies faithful will learn their fate.

Will the Saudi takeover be approved before the end of the season?

Yes, 100%

Yes, 100%

No way!

No way!

However, the Telegraph’s Luke Edwards delivered a surprisingly encouraging verdict to fans on Twitter over the weekend – he’s someone who has sided with negativity around the process throughout, often leading to criticism from some supporters.

Though, his latest comments should be promising news.

He said:

Edwards claims that regardless of the outcome of the proposed Saudi takeover, the northeast giants will undoubtedly have new owners “soon” – meaning there’s surely no way back for Mike Ashley at this stage.

The Sports Direct mogul has been at the helm for a long 13 years and his reign will be summed up by the mediocrity on the pitch as well as the miscommunication off it.

Whether it’ll eventually be Saudi’s public investment fund, Henry Mauriss or somebody else remains to be seen at this stage.

Ideally, a decision is made before the conclusion of the 19/20 campaign as the Magpies will need to prepare for a new era over the summer and the sooner that can happen, the better.
