Steve Wraith offers blunt response when asked about Newcastle United’s takeover

|

Divisive Geordie actor and avid Newcastle United supporter Steve Wraith delivered a blunt response when asked about the club’s ongoing takeover saga.

He has remained confident throughout the whole process and earlier this morning his feeling was very much the same.

How confident are you in the takeover being approved?

Very!

Very!

Not at all!

Not at all!

One supporter questioned if the Saudi deal was going to go through to which Wraith simply replied “yes.”

He said:

The saga is now well into mid-July, over three months since the BBC first broke the news that Mike Ashley had agreed to sell the club for £300m to Amanda Staveley and her Saudi Arabian-backed consortium.

It’s thought that the Premier League are still conducting their owners and directors test but CEO Richard Masters recently admitted that he wanted the process to be concluded soon – that’s was about two weeks ago.

Alan Shearer was brought the club straight after Euro 96 for a record-breaking £15m deal.

The Saudi kingdom have pledged to crack down on issues of piracy in the Middle Eastern state, so it remains to be seen what else is stopping the deal from being done and dusted.

Wraith still being as confident as ever should be hugely encouraging for many in the northeast though as he’s evidently not seen anything to persuade him otherwise.
