Newcastle To ‘Raise’ Bid To £12.4m For Serie A Star With Player Keen On Move

|

We will “raise” our offer to €14m (£12.4m) plus €2m (£1.8m) in bonuses for Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro, according to TMW.

The Italian rumour mongers say we have already bid €13m (£11.5m) for the Italian international, but Juve are holding out for €18m (£16m).

Sturaro has rejected offers from China as he is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old barely featured last season, playing just 12 games in Serie A and making 19 appearances in total.

The midfielder has been a bit-part player over the last three seasons under manager Max Allegri and has been tipped to depart the Italian club.

If we are to make a move for Sturaro, it’s likely we’d be using the funds from the sale of Mikel Merino to finance the deal. The Spaniard is expected to join Real Sociedad with the La Liga club expected to pay the midfielder’s release clause.
