After playing little or no part in Newcastle’s Premier League season ahead of the January transfer window, the decision was made to loan our Serbian striker, Aleksander Mitrovic to Fulham.
Mitrovic was told, by Rafael Benitez, that he’d possibly resurrect his Newcastle career if he scored a hatful of goals for the West London club.
Well, the Serbian did exactly that.
In fact, in his last 22 competitive games, Mitrovic has scored 17 goals, a more than decent return.
However, it doesn’t appear that Newcastle have changed their mind about retaining the services of the player.
According to the news source, Sky Sports, Fulham can buy the striker who did so much to enhance their successful promotion to the Premier League for a fee of £20 million.
It remains to be seen if the West London club agrees to that figure or whether Mitrovic opts to move elsewhere.
However, when it comes to Mitrovic, it appears the Newcastle support are disappointed that the player is set to leave the club with the following tweets illustrating the point:
Hope the rumours aren’t true that we are looking to sell #Merino and #Mitrovic #NUFC.

And
Crazy to think if #Mitrovic was not a toon player and he had just had the six months he has had, a 40million offer for him by us would be welcomed with jubilation from fans, and there we are selling him ???? #nufc #

Is it too late to decide that perhaps Mitrovic may have a future at St James Park?
