Toon will still have an ‘attacking signing on the agenda’

Newcastle previously held ‘positive talks’ over a £25.6 million deal for the 20-year-old, yet a deal could not be reached with his representatives, and manager Eddie Howe is set to turn his attention to alternative targets.
Callum Wilson was the club’s top scorer in the Premier League with just eight strikes last term, a tally that will need to be improved upon. He did miss a huge part of the season through injury and many will be hoping he can keep fit for the full term.
Taylor told GiveMeSport: “I do think there’s scope to recruit another wide attacker as well, but obviously as we’ve seen with Newcastle, their recruitment strategy is actually very calculated, it’s not just throwing money at big names as many expected them to do, it’s smart shopping.
“So, I don’t have any specific names, but I do think there will be an attacking signing on the agenda.”
Who could Newcastle sign?
The Telegraph have previously claimed that Newcastle’s potential move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby is over after they learned of his £60 million price tag.
Howe has now switched his attention to two other young attackers in the shape of OGC Nice’s Amine Gouiri and Armando Broja of Chelsea.
