We are one of four teams interested in Sampdoria striker Duvan Zapata, according to Il Secolo XIX.
The Italian publication reports that Southampton, Atalanta and Jiangsu Suning are also interested in signing the Colombian striker. It appears the Chinese Super League club are leading the way after reportedly opening negotiations.
Zapata is actually still on loan at the Serie A side from Napoli, but he will join the club on a permanent basis for £15m on July 1st.
The 27-year-old had a decent season in the Italian top flight last campaign, scoring 11 goals in 31 appearances. However, it seems Sampdoria are considering offloading the forward with Valencia’s Simone Zaza and Nice’s Mario Balotelli being looked at as possible replacements.
With the lack of transfer funds currently at Rafa Benitez’s disposal, a move for Zapata seems unrealistic at the moment, with his current club likely to want to make a profit on the fee they have shelled out for the player.
