The club are among six teams that are considering a move for Guingamp midfielder Clement Grenier, according to L’Equipe.
The French publication reports we will be joined by Fulham, Everton, Rennes, AC Milan and Fenerbahce in the race to the sign the Frenchman.
It is believed that the 27-year-old is available for €3m (£2.6m) just six months after joining his current club on a free transfer from Lyon. Fans on Twitter were not particularly excited about signing the playmaker:
If he could rediscover even 5% of the talent he has. We would have ourselves a bargain at 3 million.

That is just what we need, a player who will prob be injured 75% on the time he is on our books, wasting a squad place and wages, might even take 12 months to adapt to the league and even by then prob wouldn't suit him as it's more physical than he's used to. ????

Fast forward 12 months time when everyone is hailing him as one of the signings of season ????

and if he gets a few assists in wins later in the season moving us up a few places would make double that. but although this is a mike ashley level signing i just cant see us buying anyone at the minute.

Verdict:
Injuries have robbed Grenier of the best years of his career. He has managed just 29 appearances over the past three years, but his move to Guingamp in January has provided him with a fresh start.
In the second half of last season, he scored five goals and provided four assists in 15 appearances. We are in the market for a creative midfielder and the former France international would certainly fit the bill, but it would be a huge risk.
