Newcastle Agree Deal For Their Second Signing Of The Summer

|

Yesterday, Newcastle United agreed to a deal to make their second signing of the summer.

However, whilst excited that there has been some movement on the transfer scene, it’s not the kind of deal that will attract a huge amount of column inches in the media, probably because there was no huge fee involved.

Instead, Newcastle have taken advantage of the fact that the Swansea midfielder, Ki Sung-yeung, is, as of the 1 July, out of contract at Swansea City.

Ki, 29-years-of-age, has agreed on a two-year deal with Newcastle and will join the squad after he has recovered from his exertions with South Korea, at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Talking about his latest acquisition, Rafael Benitez is quoted in the BBC, as having remarked,

“I’m pleased to welcome Ki to the club.

“He is the captain of his country, a good character and he will be a good addition to the squad.”

Here at Vital Newcastle, we’d like to formally welcome Ki Sung-yeung to the club and we hope his stay is a successful one.

However, we’d like to add we view the signing of the player as a solid acquisition as opposed to the spectacular one that would give the support hope that the tide is turning at St James Park when it comes to seriously improving the squad.

But, we can but hope!
