A few Newcastle fans have been reacting on Reddit after u/TrueEntropy shared that Sports Direct are running a competition offering United supporters the chance to win tickets to a Magpies home game next season.

Mike Ashley’s company are also offering Toon supporters the chance to win a training ground experience at Darsley Park, or a signed shirt by the first-team. But given this competition appears to have begun after our owner allowed Rafa Benitez to leave the club, fans have been showing a lot of displeasure.

The audacity from r/NUFC

Benitez’s contract does not expire until the end of the week, but the club announced on Monday that the Spaniard would not be continuing his Magpies tenure into a fourth full season, and will rather leave St James’ Park when the month is up.

News soon emerged, after the club issued their statement, which suggested Ashley nor the Newcastle board informed Benitez that the club would be issuing confirmation that the 59-year-old would not be accepting the one-year extension presented to him.

Fans instantly lambasted Ashley for the blatant show of ‘disrespect’, while some ‘refused to believe’ it as they could not handle the ‘emotional strain’ on top of the boss’ departure.

Tensions are still sky high between the Magpies fanbase and Ashley, with some supporters venting their frustrations after u/TrueEntropy shared that Sports Direct are running their Newcastle competition…
