A fresh update into Newcastle United’s prospective £300m takeover has sparked a reaction from the St James’ Park faithful this week.
The Athletic produced an article explaining the reason for the ongoing delay to the Premier League’s owners and directors test and why the top-flight are in a huge dilemma.
Are you worried about the PL rejecting the takeover?
Absolutely!
No way..
But it hasn’t gone down well in the northeast with many fans left fuming.
Scare mongering….utter rubbish.

Saying it’s a slam dunk surely is a negative for the takeover?

Totally bored of this now , the excitement has gone , just get it over with now either way

It’s basically saying Saudi have to give Qatar what they want, it won’t happen, this will just fizzle out to nothing.

The latest update over takeover has led to some supporters pondering the chances of it actually receiving the green light – understandably, they are rather anxious.
It’s already been two months since the paperwork was first handed to the PL and the lack of a decision is only going to cause concern the longer we have to wait.
It’s not happening man

This has stalled and IMO will be blocked

There are a few members of the Magpies faithful who believe that the top-flight are looking for a way to block the deal from happening, which is why they are taking so long with their final decision.

So it’s kind of doomed now? Bevause let’s be honest we kna the PL have been looking for a reason to block it.

I’m not sure how the PL can justify waiting for something that ‘might’ de-rail a takeover. It’s almost as though they don’t want it to happen themselves… 🤔

After 8 weeks it’s fair to say that ship has sailed. For me the PL are looking at ways to refuse the takeover with as little fallout for them as possible, you know there will be legal action from the buyers if refused. There is no morality clause in the tests, get it passed.🤷♂️

It remains to be seen what the final outcome of the owners and directors test will be, but it’s reasonable to suggest that the Premier League have had a lot on their plate in recent times.
‘Project Restart’ has been their main focus until now and the government’s lockdown measures have stopped face-to-face meetings too, which wouldn’t have helped matters.
