Boca Juniors only received one bid for midfielder Nahitan Nandez this summer, according to Sabado Sport, and the offer came from us.
Not surprisingly, the proposal was reportedly below the Argentinian club’s asking price. Fans on Twitter reacted to the news by criticising Mike Ashley and the board’s lack of ambition:
I thought a tenner and me offering to cover his sports direct shifts twice a week was a good offer ????

I offer €4 and a tic tac, no more.

Was probably 60 thousand sports direct mugs

Think the logistic this type of deal this close to the deadline is a non starter

Others feigned shock that the bid for the Uruguayan international was too low:
We bid too low?? pic.twitter.com/5F5TGz3Ybc

It’s extremely frustrating that we have lost out on so many targets this summer due to the lack of spending power. The lack of investment in the playing squad really is inexcusable but it is what we have come to expect from the owner.
Hopefully, we can get a few more signings in the next few days but Rafa really shouldn’t have to be begging for scraps in order to improve on last season’s tenth place finish. There is only one person to blame if we go backwards this season, and it won’t be the manager.
