These Newcastle United fans were pleased to discover that the proposed takeover talks have edged ever closer to being given the green light.
According to Football Insider, the Premier League are close to signing off the deal for the Saudi Arabian consortium to buy Newcastle United, having overseen a forensic investigation to allegations of illegal streaming of Premier League games by the Middle Eastern government.

If the deal goes through, this will confirm the £300m purchase of the Tyneside club, with the Public Investment Fund taking 80% of the club’s shares, with the final 20% being divided equally with Amanda Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners and the Reuben brothers.
With this in mind, supporters were delighted with the update and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he is “going to have a great birthday present” when the deal is finally announced, while another simply stated “cans”, in the typical Newcastle way that we have all come to know and appreciate.
