Loads of Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media after Valentino Lazaro took to Twitter ahead of the Magpies’ Premier League clash with Burnley this Saturday.

Lazaro is suspended for the encounter at St. James’ Park after being shown a straight red card in stoppage-time of last weekend’s defeat at Crystal Palace, having hauled Wilfried Zaha to the ground as the Eagles star sought to stretch his side’s lead.

But the ban has seemingly failed to dampen Lazaro’s spirits, as the Austrian has taken to social media to offer a positive reflection on his situation with a message of self-motivation.

“When you‘re trapped in a corner, you gotta rise above yourself & stand up for your name and the game you love,” he noted.

Head coach Steve Bruce awarded Lazaro his third Newcastle appearance during last weekend’s trip to Selhurst Park, having previously called upon the Inter Milan loanee to feature against Norwich City and Arsenal since his January arrival.

United are yet to win a match with the 23-year-old on the field, after drawing at home to the Canaries and losing 4-0 and 1-0 to Arsenal and Palace respectively.

Lazaro was often involved in the action during those three encounters, though, as the midfielder – who Bruce has exclusively used at right-back – averaged 1.4 key balls per 90 minutes, plus 1.4 accurate crosses, 1.4 accurate corners, 0.5 accurate free-kicks, 2.3 attempted dribbles and 2.3 successful tackles from 3.6, per WhoScored data.
