Former Magpie player Laurent Robert has been reminiscing about his time at our club and suggested Newcastle was where he most enjoyed playing his football.
That may not be surprising given we finished 3rd in the Premier League in 2002/03 with the Frenchman in the side, while also playing against the likes of Barcelona and Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League that year.
He became a fan favourite due to his extraordinary strikes from free-kicks and incredible shot power, which helped him to 31 goals in 175 appearances for the club.
Will PIF takeover the club?
Yes
No
Robert admitted that Newcastle was the “best place for the public and the fans”, as our fanbase certainly showed appreciation for the winger during his spell at St. James’ Park.
In response to his comments several fans have been expressing their praise of Robert. They have highlighted his best attributes while in black & white stripes with one fan suggesting he was even better than David Ginola.
Best left winger we’ve ever had.
