It gets from bad to worse for us Newcastle fans. A report has suggested that further delays to our proposed takeover are due to take place after coming across yet another stumbling block.

According to The Times, we have now found ourselves coiled in a political conundrum, with Giles Watling MP, a Conservative member of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee, has called for that group to hold an “evidence session” against Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) over their involvement in pirate television, which has been used to show Premier League football in the Middle East.

Last month, retail tycoon Mike Ashley agreed a £300m deal and took a non-refundable deposit from PIF’s backers Amanda Staveley for the purchase of the club. This followed as the Premier League asked them fresh questions about their human rights record and their piracy concerns.

Because of this, supporters now believe that the takeover will not go ahead and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he has “conceded defeat”, while another simply said he had given up.
