Club President Confirms Decision To Sign Newcastle Midfielder Is In His Hands

|

Henri Saivet’s departure from the club has been a long and drawn saga. The Senegalese international is free to leave and hasn’t been involved during pre-season but the 27-year-old still remains at the club.

However, there is some hope that the midfielder could finally depart with Turkish club Bursaspor confirming they are weighing up a move for the player.

Speaking to Olay this week, the Super Lig side’s vice president Cern Ozturk revealed they are interested in Saivet but have yet to make a final decision on making a move for the Senegalese star:

“We have the opportunity to sign Saivet, the final decision will be made by us. While it is not always right to discuss transfers before they have been completed, I can confirm that the Saivet transfer will happen if we want him.”

The former Bordeaux midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan in Turkey at Sivasspor, where he made 12 appearances and contributed two assists.

He has a contract that runs until 2021, but he has barely featured since his arrival in the North East back in January 2016. The Turkish transfer window closes on August 31st so there is plenty of time for Bursaspor to secure a deal for Saivet.
