Genoa are hopeful of getting a deal over the line for Achraf Lazaar “within a few hours” before the Italian transfer deadline, according to Alfredo Pedulla.
The Italian journalist reports that the Moroccan international has arrived in Italy ahead of the move, but there is still no agreement about the nature of the loan deal.
Genoa are only willing to sign Lazaar if there is no obligation to buy the fullback, according to Sky Sport Italia (via Football-Italia.net). However, we want the left-back to sign for the Serie A side once the season-long loan ends.
The transfer window for Italian clubs closes at 8 pm Central European Time tonight so if the green light for the Moroccan’s move hasn’t been given by then, the defender will have to stay put at St James’ Park.
Of course, Lazaar could still move to another European club whose transfer window closes on August 31st, but most of the interest in the former Palermo player has been from Italy.
