The Magpies finally secured a Premier League victory at the 11th time of asking by edging past Watford, with Ayoze Perez’s first goal of the season securing all three points at St. James’ Park.
Victory for Rafael Benitez’s side certainly raised eyebrows considering the fine displays shown by Javi Gracia’s Hornets so far this season, who have been one of the surprise packages so far this term, and it is fair to say the result will have ruined a few accumulators.
One optimistic Watford fan took to social media prior to the match to state his confidence that the Hornets would ease past Newcastle and Magpies supporters were quick to jump on the post after the full-time whistle, enjoying the opportunity to mock a rival supporter.
