Bid Up Bonny Lass

|

The Magpies are still very keen to sign a Centre forward in the final weeks of the summer transfer window and  Goncal Ramos has constantly been muted as a key target.

The Benfica Frontman is currently in blistering form. He showed us what he is capable of after scoring against Newcastle in pre-season at the Estadio de Luz. The 21-year-old has started the 2022-23 campaign with four goals and three assists in his opening four matches in all competitions.

A report from the Shields Gazzette claimed that an official bid over € 30 million (roughly £25.3million) plus add-ons was expected to be made by Newcastle however Benfica is reported to be telling Suitors to bid up more than £35m.

Is he Good enough- Goncalo Ramos?

Yes- He's on blistering Form

NO- Not good or experienced enough for the EPL!

With less than three weeks left of the transfer window, Newcastle are still yet to bolster their attacking line with Callum Wilson and Chris Wood the only senior striking options, and as we saw at Brighton this weekend we were fairly ineffectual.

Although Eddie Howe has claimed players such as Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximinand Jacob Murphy could play in a central attacking role if needed, the United head coach is aware that reinforcements are required.

Given Ramos’ age, he is deemed as a player that has the type of profile Eddie Howe is looking for in that he can compete for a first-team place alongside more senior stars like Callum Wilson. Ramos’ wages would also fit into United’s salary structure.

Time is pushing on and the ever-decreasing window is a worry, Ramos signed a new deal with Benfica in late 2021 and is contracted until 2026 but Benfica won’t stand in his way if they get a good offer. Suggestions in Portugal are that a deal could be done if Newcastle offer “slightly more” for his services.

It’s over to you Wor Mandy.
