Newcastle have struggled for form in the Premier League this season and have just two points to their name after 10 fixtures, with Rafael Benitez’s side still awaiting their first victory in 2018-19.
January additions are clearly necessary and there is a suggestion that Benitez believes he will be given funds to spend by Mike Ashley in January – despite history suggesting that the unpopular boss will continue to pinch the pennies.
One target back on the radar of Newcastle is Ajax full-back Nicolas Tagliafico, originally linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer, but the Magpies could face competition in the market from Unai Emery’s Arsenal.
Given the competition in the market and the fact Ashley is notorious for not handing managers the required funds to strengthen the squad, many fans on social media expressed their disbelief at the links.

The biggest competition we’ll face is Ashley and attempting to loosen those purse strings. Factor in that were going to be in the bottom 3 maybe we should instead look at the free transfer and loan market for a change. Also it’ll be 1 out 1 in so firstly report on the outgoing.
