“Absolute animal” – These Newcastle fans reminisce over £3.6m rated “beast”

“Was immense” – A lot of Newcastle United fans remember the day they beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at White Hart Lane thanks to an outstanding performance from Tim Krul.

The Dutchman, who is rated at £3.6m, made a total of 14 saves that day as he refused to be beaten by anything Tottenham threw his way.

The Toon took the lead thanks to a composed Loic Remy finish and held on despite relentless Spurs pressure.

Some of the saves were truly outstanding, and the performance from the Dutchman will live long in the memory of many Newcastle fans.

The best stop was from a Christain Eriksen free-kick – as the ball deflected off the wall and looked to have wrongfooted Krul, but he showed superb reactions to dive to his right and keep the ball out – before Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa produced one of the best goal-line clearances I have ever seen.

Who is the better goalkeeper?

It was a superb day for all connected with the Toon, and many Newcastle fans are discussing Krul’s heroics.
