These Newcastle United fans have been looking back in awe of David Ginola’s goal during our 4-0 victory against the Hungarian side Ferencvaros in 1996 during a UEFA Cup second-round clash.
St James’ Park saw the return of European football to Tyneside as we comfortably dispatched of the reigning Nemzeti Bajnoksag I champions at the time.
A brace from the Columbian great Faustino Asprilla and England star Les Ferdinand set us on our way, but their efforts were quickly forgotten because of one moment.
Was this David Ginola's greatest goal for Newcastle?
Yes
No
90s Football shared the moment on Twitter which saw Ginola pick the ball up on the edge of the penalty area, elegantly flicked it over the defender and hit a thunderous strike into the top corner of the net.
As a result, supporters were in awe of Ginola’s goal and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan described it as “a strike as glorious as the man himself”.
Purely belter
