Wolves v Newcastle – Match Preview

|

Sunday sees unbeaten Newcastle United travel to Molineux to take on winless Wolves in a 2pm Kick-Off, live on Sky Sports.

Newcastle have had a tough week; after the 3-3 draw with Champions Manchester City we lost Callum Wilson and Dan Burn to injury and then on Wednesday a much-changed side faced HMP Wakefield Select Eleven posing as Tranmere Rovers and got seven shades kicked out of them resulting in losing Emil Krafth and adding a nice new feature to the face of Jamaal Lascelles in the form of a broken nose.

However, Eddie Howe hopes to welcome back Ryan Fraser [The Chronicle] who has yet to feature this season and to add a further boost, new signing Alexander Isak has been registered in time to be eligible for the matchday squad. It’s not likely he will start the game, so Chris Wood is poised to lead the line following his goalscoring outing at Tranmere on Wednesday, however, that does mean that for the first time this season, Newcastle have some real game-changing options in attack from the bench.

What's Your Wolves Prediction?

Wolves Win

Newcastle Win

Draw

It’s a great time to play Wolves as they’re yet to pick up a win in the league and seem to be struggling to get going so far, and with Newcastle’s confidence riding high, we should be able to pick apart the Wolves defence, especially if Saint-Maximin can repeat his performance against City where he had Kyle Walker’s life.

We should be wary of a backlash, bad form doesn’t last forever and Wolves will be desperate to pick up points, but I think Newcastle will have enough to see off the challenge.
