Lots of Newcastle fans have had their say on Twitter after their first deal of the window looks to be nearing a conclusion.
According to the Chronicle, United are ‘understood’ to have completed their first transfer in January – Scottish youngster Reagan Thomson.
The young midfielder has arrived from Queens Park in the Scottish fourth-tier, with the Magpies reportedly pipping both Celtic and Rangers to the youngster’s signature.
Within the report, it states that the transfer cost United around £50,000, however, that fee could well rise if he makes the top level in the North East. It is said that Thomson has signed a two and a half year contract.
Will Thomson reach the Toon first-team?

Poor lad. We'll ruin his development and he'll end up on loan to Ayr United in a few years time

This transfer isn’t obviously one for now and it might take a year or so to see whether he has the capabilities of making the grade at St James’ Park.
Despite this, the club have still done well to nick a top prospect ahead of both Glasgow sides – especially considering how local he is.
Perhaps the first-team appearances for Scott and Sean Longstaff has given the player hope that he has a serious future at Toon.
