Thomas Tuchel Could Join Newcastle Or West Ham According To Pundit

|

So, HITC claim that Stan Collymore has said that he wouldn’t be surprised to see recently sacked Thomas Tuchel turning up at either Newcastle, West Ham or Aston Villa.

First off, if this had any nugget of truth in it then let me say West Ham or Villa are welcome to him, we’ve got Eddie Howe and a big project that he’s right at the centre of, so no managerial change for us, thanks. To be fair, Villa could do with someone new as Gerrard isn’t exactly pulling up trees in the Midlands is he?

Secondly, this just reeks of Collymore throwing darts at the Premier League table to pick teams to link to an available manager for the sake of having something to talk about.

“I don’t see him automatically getting one of the big European jobs any time soon,” said Collymore. “Maybe in Italy, a Juventus or one of the Milan clubs might be looking to make a change during the World Cup and they will be interested.”

“But he can’t hang around too long for fear of becoming yesterday’s man and I wonder if his most likely destination will be one of our B+ clubs, such as Newcastle, West Ham or Aston Villa.”

“Eddie Howe, David Moyes and Steven Gerrard could well be the ones looking over their shoulders and their clubs could afford to pay Tuchel £8million-£10million-a-year. The fact they could all offer a long-term project as well might tick boxes for him because the pressure wouldn’t be what it has been at Chelsea. Time will tell, but don’t be surprised if we see him again sometime soon,” he added.

Would You Take Tuchel At Newcastle?

Nope. Eddie is the man!

Yes. He's world class!

Tuchel was on Newcastle’s radar as far back as 2015 when he was linked with the job after the departure of Alan Pardew, but despite admitting later that he would have been interested in the role, was ultimately never approached.

The German was unceremoniously ousted from his role with Chelsea last week after a slow start to the season and a defeat in the Champions League to Dinamo Zagreb. This is despite guiding the London side to winning the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup. However, it is believed he didn’t get on with the new owners and they were just looking for a reason to part ways.

While there is no doubting that Tuchel is a world-class manager, and one that would be an exciting coup for Newcastle, the fact remains that Eddie Howe hasn’t put a foot wrong since taking over at Newcastle, turning their fortunes around and slowly working on a style of play that suits the squad he has. Any change now just for the sake of having a “bigger name” would just be crazy.

So, thanks for thinking of us, Collymore, but no, I’m sure I speak for the vast majority of Newcastle supporters here: we’re good with Eddie.
