“There’s Nowhere I’d Rather Be” – Kieran Trippier Extends His Stay

|

While Newcastle struggle to add new players to the roster his January, they have managed to make one key signing – Captain, Kieran Trippier has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until Summer 2025.

Since his arrival at St James’ Park a year ago, Trippier has cemented his place as a key figure in the Eddie Howe regime, showing his leadership qualities as soon as he arrived and dragging Newcastle from the bottom of the Premier League to safety.

His form has only gotten better this season and now he has pundits classing him as the best right back in Europe. At 32, he’s no spring chicken, in footballing terms at least, but he still manages to get up and down the wing like someone ten years his junior, add to that his crossing ability and accuracy from dead ball situations, and it’s easy to see why he’s being hailed as one of the best.

Speaking to NUFC TV after signing his deal, Trippier said: “I’m absolutely delighted that I’ve extended my contract here. I’ve got a lot of thank yous to make to the manager, owners, fans and my teammates.

“When I first arrived here, they made me feel so welcome and I want to help the club achieve great things. It’s a positive moment for us players in the club and there’s nowhere I’d rather be.”

With his experience of winning La Liga with Athletico Madrid, we’ve got the perfect captain to guide us as we fight for the Carabao Cup and a Champions League spot in the Premier League.

By the time this deal ends, Trippier will be 35 and likely thinking about the next step of his career. I just hope that he sees it in coaching/management and he stick around at Newcastle to join the backroom staff.
