Plenty of Newcastle fans have responded on Twitter after seeing reports that the club had made an offer for Hakan Calhanoglu.
The AC Milan attacking midfielder has been a regular for the club this season, though could be available for around €20m, according to previous reports from Calciomercato.
Louis Girardi, a reporter from the Italian outlet, tweeted yesterday that an offer had been made f0r the Turkey international, but did not reference whether it was a permanent or loan offer, or how much money was involved.
The former Bayer Leverkusen player has played the majority of his games this season on the left-wing but has also occasionally been playing in central midfield, so there’s no doubt he could add depth to this Newcastle team. He hasn’t been particularly prolific this season, though, with just two goals and one assist coming from his 18 Seria A games.
Who would you most like to see join?
Bowen
Calhanoglu
Lookman
Lazaro
Newcastle fan account @NUFC360 tweeted about the rumour, to which many fans responded with their personal opinions, which were pretty varied.

With goals lacking at St James’ Park this season, there’s no doubt the club want someone who can add more to their tally.
In the 24 goals they have scored from 24 league games, only four have come from attacking players – the rest are all defenders or central midfielders. Miguel Almiron has got two, Allan Saint-Maximin one as well as Joelinton with one.
While Calhanoglu might not be in that kind of form this season, there’s nothing to say that – at just 25 – he can’t recapture some of the magic that he had at Bayer Leverkusen.
