Striker eyes Newcastle exit

Rafael Benitez got a lot of things right when he was manager of Newcastle United Football Club, unfortunately Yoshinori Muto was not one.

The Japanese forward has endured a torrid time on Tyneside and according to a report in the Chronicle, he hoping that his loan move to Eibar will made permanent sooner rather than later.

Since joining United from Mainz back in the summer of 2018, Muto has played just 28 times for the magpies in all competitions and he has just two goals to show for it.

He is about as unsuited to the Premier League as it is possible to be, he does not posses the pace nor the strength required to be a hit and he certainly doesn’t have the technical ability to make up for his physical shortcomings.

Muto may want to extend his stay with Eibar but the main question surely has to be; do Eibar even want to keep him?

He hasn’t faired too much better over in Spain with just three goals in 24 appearances and he has played in just 43% of total minutes played by the club.

He has been unable to help the side avoid a relegation scrap and his side currently make up the bottom three alongside Florian Lejeune’s Alaves.

Then there comes the stumbling block that is his reported wage packet. He is reportedly on £54000 a week, that can’t be right can it?

If that is correct whoever negotiated that contract needs to given their P45 immediately.

Lets hope that Muto is so desperate to get away from St. James’ Park that he is willing to take a substantial pay cut as no one will be daft enough to match his extortionate pay and we will be left lumbered with a player who just simply isn’t good enough.

For all parties, it would be beneficial if Yoshinori Muto’s Newcastle career came to an end sooner rather than later.
