Steve Bruce takes another swipe

|

Steve Bruce has taken yet another swipe at the club in a recent Mirror article.

Current West Brom boss Steve Bruce despite being a local lad was not a popular Newcastle United manager during his 97 match tenure at St James’ Park after 12th and 13th placed Premier League finishes.

It is galling to most Newcastle United fans that Steve Bruce doesn’t have the integrity to admit he just wasn’t tactically aware enough, or even a decent enough man-manager to get the best out of what was obviously an underperforming team.

As his tenure was coming to an end, Bruce still hadn’t actually chalked up a win during the first 13 games and Newcastle  United was nailed on to be relegated.

After racking up his 1000th game as manager, he was finally let go from the Magpies, much to the relief of the St James Faithful.

Bruce’s abysmal record speaks for itself: Whilst at Newcastle from  July 17, 2019 – he spent 826 Days in charge. His stats are P97 W28 D28 L41  with a Win ratio: 28.9%

Steve Bruce admits: “It’s personal for me at West Brom.

Given Bruce still had Newcastle in the Premier League, he argues  “Would the sale to the new owners have gone ahead if the club was in the Championship? I’m not so sure.”

Given that Eddie Howe came in when we were headed that way, changed the training regime,  and immediately improved the fitness level of the whole squad. He put Joelinton into a position that actually suited him whilst also securing a couple of decent signings.  Howe proved that when motivated properly, a poor team can play to their strengths and meld into a team willing to fight for each other, Geordies wished for nothing more than that.
