It was revealed yesterday that the club are not interested in signing Anderlecht striker Isaac Thelin. A Belgium newspaper the Het Laatste Nieuws had reported that we had a bid accepted for the Swedish international but Chronicle journalist Mark Douglas said there was no truth to the rumour.
The 26-year-old, who scored 19 goals in all competitions last season, could have been an alternative option for Salomon Rondon, but it seems we will be looking elsewhere in our pursuit of a new striker.
Fans were decidedly split on whether a move for Thelin would have been a good idea:
It looks as though the club will have to move on from Rondon as well. The Express & Star have reported that the Venezuelan no longer has a £16.5m release clause, and the Mirror believe West Brom could now demand up to £25m for the striker.
That would surely rule us out of the running. Reports in France suggest a bid for Lyon’s Myziane Maolida could be in the offing, but so far there has been no confirmation of an approach.
