Southampton v Newcastle – Lineups

|

The team news is in ahead of our 2pm kick-off at St Mary’s as we face Southampton.

Callum Wilson shakes off an illness to start this afternoon, but there’s no place in the starting lineup for Allan Saint-Maximin who finds himself on the bench again.

Jacob Murphy takes his place on the left side of the forward line ahead of Saint-Maximin as Joelinton’s replacement as he sits this one out through suspension. That is the only change from last week’s side that demolished Aston Villa at St James’ Park.

Our hosts this afternoon are missing Kyle Walker-Peters who might have been their best shot of containing rampant Miguel Almiron. Former Magpie, Adam Armstrong is on the bench for the Saints.

Feeling Confident Seeing The Teams?

No

Very

Looking at the sides, there’s not a lot Newcastle need to be too worried about. If they go out there and play their game like they have been, it should be a relatively easy afternoon for the lads. Their biggest threat comes in the form of James Ward-Prowse, so as long as we don’t give away any silly free kicks in range, we should be fine.

Similarly, if Saints were to do that, we have Kieran Trippier in our arsenal, so it could be the contest of the free-kick specialists.
