Plenty of Newcastle United fans have reacted on Twitter after it has been suggested that the club went in with another offer for former striker Salomon Rondon.
According to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague, the Magpies were part of a number of Premier League sides who wanted to bring the Venezuelan back to the English top-tier.
Nevertheless, the deal ultimately couldn’t be arranged by Steve Bruce’s side, and the forward will be remaining with Rafael Benitez at Dalian Yafang.
With Joelinton struggling to fire this season there was clearly a push to find a goalscoring forward, however, it now seems as if the club will have to settle for what they already have.
Are you annoyed we haven't signed a striker?
Yes, one was needed
Nope let's get behind Joelinton
So far, the Brazillian’s goal against Tottenham in August was the last time that a striker has scored for the club in the league.
Resultingly, plenty of supporters wanted to see a striker come through to door this window, and as you can read from the responses below, many wanted Rondon back.

Should be a no-brainer to do today, especially considering the Chinese league is suspended.

Or we could have just signed him when we had the chance

It looks as if the club are now done for the month with their business, and even without a striker being signed, the club probably have to be satisfied with what’s been done.
Goals might be lacking up top, but all three players in Danny Rose, Valentino Lazaro and Nabil Bentaleb could help contribute to more chances higher up the pitch with their ability.
