Newcastle have been alerted to the possible availability of Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi on loan this summer, a report from The Sun has claimed.

Despite falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea seemingly reluctant to lose Batshuayi for nothing when his contract expires at the end of next season.

According to the latest reports, one way that Chelsea are now looking to avoid that, is by handing Batshuayi a new contract – which will see his wages rise to £100,000 per week – before loaning him out for this season, in the hope that his performances elsewhere could tempt a club to make a permanent offer for him.

That is something that has apparently caught the attention of Newcastle, who it is thought cannot afford to buy him, but could now attempt to bring the striker to St James’ Park on a temporary basis.

The Magpies however, are not the only club who have apparently had their heads turned by this latest update around Batshuayi, with fellow Premier League sides West Brom and Crystal Palace also reportedly interested in the prospect of completing a deal such as this.

It is also thought that any club who secures the signing of Batshuayi on loan will have to pay a significant chunk of the Belgian’s wages during his time with that club.

As a result, this is unlikely to be a cheap deal even without a transfer fee, and given Newcastle look to be close to spending big to sign another striker in the shape of Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson, you wonder if that money could be better spent strengthening another area of their side.
