Report: It will take irresistible offer for this man to leave Newcastle in January

|

It will take an irresistible offer for Dwight Gayle to leave Tyneside in the upcoming January window, according to a report in the Chronicle.

Despite Gayle finding it hard for football this season, he is reportedly not a player that the club will part with lightly and there are some conditions that will need to be met before he can leave for good.

The story suggests that not only are the club only willing to listen to offers upwards of £15m, but they will also have to source a replacement behind-the-scenes to ensure that they still have reinforcements in their strikeforce.

Allegedly, Lee Ryder says within his report that the Magpies have had some ‘interesting’ options on loan, and Steve Nickson, the club’s chief scout, has drawn up a list of potential options to replace him.

The complications don’t stop there for this deal, either. While there is no doubt that Gayle has incredible goalscoring pedigree – especially at Championship level with 59 goals in 100 games in the second tier – at 29, he will be wanting to earn a big of a contract as possible in what could be his last big deal, per the report.

Gayle has made just one start this season, with 136 minutes notched up overall, so it does make sense for the attacker to depart from the club.

Has Gayle played his last game for Newcastle?

Yes

No

Furthermore, if he continues to be on the bench for Newcastle then they are going to limit his value by not allowing him to depart this January. With only 18 months on his contract left, he is not getting any younger, and they will want to cash in while there are some Championship clubs licking their lips to improve their goalscoring records.

The report suggests that West Brom, Fulham and Nottingham Forest are all interested in the attacker, so they would be foolish to not cash in now.

Additionally, the club can respend that juicy fee on a forward or winger who actually suits Steve Bruce’s system and someone who can add more to his team.
