Loads of Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media, after talkSPORT named Miguel Almiron as one of ten Premier League players in need of a January transfer away from their current sides.
They claim the Paraguay star may be blessed with blistering speed and a great work ethic, but that he is yet to show the skill or talent that made Rafa Benitez long to bring him to St. James’ Park at a club-record £21million.
The sport-oriented radio network also suggest head coach Steve Bruce does not yet know how he can get the most out of the 25-year-old, and is instead hoping that Almiron can adapt to his tactics rather than building around him.
talkSPORT go on to state that they would not be surprised if Bruce gives the green light to Almiron moving on to pastures new next month if his departure boosts our transfer budget, based on the £42,327-per-week midfielder being without a goal in any of his 26 outings for the Magpies.
Would you sell Almiron in January?
Yes, he's been awful
No, he's a key player
Almiron penned his first assist for the club against Manchester City at the end of November, and has recorded a combined 24 key passes since making his debut as a second-half substitute against Wolverhampton Wanderers in February.
The 23-cap Paraguay midfielder has also taken a total of 45 shots, made 26 successful dribbles, 43 tackles, 20 interceptions and 29 blocks over his 26 Toon appearances, per WhoScored data.
Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to talkSPORT’s suggestion that Almiron is in need of a winter transfer inside a year of his arrival on Tyneside…
Its joelinton who needs a move if anyone, Almiron may not have scored but he does wonders for us on the pitch. That lad never stops til final whistle.

Utter tosh. Fantastic player who does not stop running or trying. A credit to nufc and still young enough to get better.

Once Ritchie is back I think both Almiron and Joelinton may benefit from this personally I’d stick with both to end of the season then reevaluate!

What a load of rubbish talk sport talk. Almiron covers so much ground on a match day going forward and tracking back it would be sucide to let him go.

This is the dumbest thing I’ve read in a while. You only need to watch the Burnley match to see what our attack looks like a without him. The game is about more that stats. Lazy journalism from Talk Sport.
