With March being a quiet month in what is shaping to be a hectic end of season, thoughts have turned to the forthcoming two week break after our next fixture.

Our game away to Birmingham on March 18th sees no more proper action until the 1st April before it then kicks off with seven games in a month compared to four in March.

In that two week break, it is obviously a good time for aching joints to be rested and recuperated but it is highly unlikely to be like that and it wont be for some of our players that were called up for international duty today.

Ireland and Scotland named their squads for their respective friendlies and world cup qualifying games by calling up five of our squad.

Ireland claiming three and Scotland two.

Ireland calling up the recent returnee from injury Rob Elliot and a player who we thought was injured in Ciaran Clark. Daryl Murphy’s recent cameo roles have seen him called up again also.

Ireland play Wales next weekend in the world cup before a friendly a few days later at home to Iceland.

Scotland’s share of our players saw Matt Ritchie called up again and Grant Hanley does also, even though he is struggling for game time here.

The Scots have their games in reverse to the Irish with a friendly at home to Canada first before their world cup game against Slovenia following.

News is awaited on any other of our players involved in internationals.
