No Surprises Who Picked Up The Newcastle Player Of The Month

|

While the voting has just opened for the EA Sports Premier League Player Of The Month, yesterday the club announced their Player Of The Month.

Let’s be honest though, you don’t need to be specially gifted to work out who won the award. Of course, it was Miguel Almiron.

Miggy has been sensational in October, bagging six goals in six games along the way while knocking in a couple of Goal Of The Month contenders and one Goal Of The Season contender.

We took a look at Migtober recently and focused on the goals he scored during the month, but what’s not really highlighted there is the performances around the goals. It’s not as if Miggy was lucky to get on the scoresheet, he worked at it. He grafted every minute of every game to be in the positions he needed to be in.

Even Miggy’s harshest critics could never fault his workrate, but now he’s finally adding the end product to that endeavour, Miggy is becoming the talent we all thought he was going to be when we signed him for £21m back in 2019.

He was quite prolific in the MLS and that’s what we all expected when he made the switch to Newcastle, but the goals just never came. Even assists were rare, which for a winger is a huge issue. But Bruce would persevere with him week in week out much to the chagrin of the support.

But, like Joelinton before him, Almiron has flourished under the stewardship of Eddie Howe and he is finally becoming the best version of himself and I’m here for it.
