No Go For Reina

With conflicting stories in the media over who Newcastle are going for in the transfer market, there are one or two pieces out there that hit the nail on the head.

The takeover talk is being used as an excuse to gamble on our premier league status.

Big investment in the playing side is needed and anything spent in the event of a takeover wont be wasted as it would strengthen the club but Mike Ashley has decided to try to use the PR talk in the media to get away from his duty as a football club owner.

Whilst one story says we’re buying x, y or z for a certain high value, another with quotes will say something else and this has been the case in the Pepe Reina pursuit.

The Sun reporting that £10m was being allowed for the keeper that Rafa wants.

However when you ignore the stories released by the usual suspects via the PR department, it’s common knowledge that Ashley doesn’t like signing players over a certain age that have no sell on value with players aged 28 usually the cut off point and when you factor in wages, agents fees and everything else, you can dismiss the story yourself.

According to Sport Witness, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo had a piece in that denied from the horses mouth, Rafa, that Reina was indeed a target, especially when he’ll know the real score in his demands are being ignored.
