Lots of Newcastle United fans have reacted on Twitter to a story which suggests where the club currently stands with the reported takeover.
Understandably, fans are beginning to get a bit irked with the reports linking them to a sale, as they have had a fair few of these stories and none have ever come to fruition.
On the other hand, this is the mother of all takeovers – if success is what you’re after.
The Daily Telegraph have reported that a new significant step in the Newcastle United takeover has taken place, suggesting that the Premier League had been notified of a potential deal, meaning they can begin doing a fit and proper persons test to see if the potential owners are suitable to take over a Premier League club.
It is said that the documentation names Amanda Staveley, Jamie Reuben and Yasir Al-Rumayyan who will be part of the board. Both Reuben and Staveley are reported to want 10 per cent, while Al-Rumayyan – the man who fronts the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia – will have the remaining 80.
Even with this news being a potential positive for the club, many fans aren’t allowing themselves to get excited, as you can tell from the responses below.
