Newcastle have made eight changes to the team that beat Southampton at the weekend with only Nick Pope, Sean Longstaff and Dan Burn keeping their place, although Burn will switch to centre-back to accommodate Matt Targett on the left. Javier Manquillo does come in to replace Kieran Trippier which was a move I toyed with but didn’t think he’d be ready.
Jonjo Shelvey and Allan Saint-Maximin both make returns to the starting line up after lengthy injuries and Joelinton returns after his one game suspension.
Elliot Anderson gets another start in the cup replacing Magic Miggy and Chris Wood is leading the line up front.
It’s a strong bench should we need it, however, Callum Wilson is absent.
Meanwhile our opponents have put out a decent team, but their biggest stars are missing in Zaha and Eze which gives us a bit more of an edge.
Our starting XI for tonight 🤝
