Plenty of Newcastle United fans have been left furious by a fresh report this week.
According to the Daily Mail, the Magpies’ prospective Saudi owners will ‘prioritise’ the appointment of a technical director as part of a major boardroom shake-up should they be given the all-clear to take over at the club.
It’s believed that despite having a wealth of riches at their disposal, the consortium will take a more measured approach to their recruitment this summer, and would like a technical director to help smooth the process.
Do Newcastle need a sporting director post-takeover?
Absolutely
Not really
Two names have been linked – Fortuna Dusseldorf’s current sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel and the man who snagged Kylian Mbappe from Real Madrid’s grasp, Antero Henrique, formerly of Paris Saint-Germain.
But first, the Premier League must approve the £300m takeover, a decision they’ve been sat on for nearly two months.
It is rather encouraging to see that the would-be owners won’t be merely buying every star in sight, but instead, they’ll aim to find the right sort of player to help transform the club.
However, despite this some of the Magpies faithful have been reacting angrily to the news…
