Newcastle United’s prospective £300m takeover appears to be edging ever closer to completion.

Earlier this afternoon, reputable Guardian journalist Sean Ingle revealed that the announcement is likely to be “days not weeks” away from happening.

Will the takeover finally happen next week?

YES!

YES!

NO!

NO!

This comes as a major boost after several weeks of doubt and speculation.

In response to one Magpies supporter who asked for an update, Ingle said:

The decision is currently in the hands of the Premier League, who have been conducting their owners and directors test for nearly 12 weeks now.

Ingle was the journalist to reveal the World Trade Organisation’s report into the issue of piracy in Saudi Arabia last month, but that has since come out and not implicated a single person involved in the Newcastle takeover.

It means Saudi’s public investment fund are well-clear of these allegations from Qatar and in theory, shouldn’t be objected to purchasing the northeast outfit.

Which manager is older?

Hopefully, Ingle is correct and we’ll learn our fate sooner rather than later, after all, we’re back in action on the pitch this Sunday and in nine games time, the season will be over.
