Newcastle United’s £300m takeover could be signed off soon, according to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope.

The reputable journalist provided an update on Matty Longstaff’s future following Steve Bruce’s press conference on Tuesday afternoon and in amongst the article, he has claimed that his sources say that an announcement from the Premier League is close and that the expectation is that the deal will finally be approved.

He tweeted the following information:

If the process does indeed conclude by the end of this week, it would be some four months after it all began with news first breaking back in April that Mike Ashley had agreed to sell the northeast outfit to a Saudi Arabian consortium led by PCP Partners’ Amanda Staveley.

It would also hand the new owners time to sort things out behind the scenes as only three matches remain before the summer, which means the transfer window is back open in less than a month.

Will this week FINALLY be the week the takeover is approved?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

But of course, we’ve been here before throughout this process. It was expected to only take four weeks initially yet here we are still waiting.

Although this information is in line with what beIN Sports presenter Richard Keys revealed on Monday – he goes as far as suggesting Friday as the date that it’ll all be official.

I guess we can only wait and see if these words ring true.
