Newcastle Transfer Rumours Latest

|

World Cup 2022 in Qatar has interrupted the Premier League season, but it does give teams an early chance to sort out their transfer plans for the January window. Eddie Howe and Dan Ashworth have both been keen to say that transfer targets have yet to be discussed, but surely there is plenty of work going on behind the scenes to identify new recruits for Newcastle’s top-four challenge.

Here are some of the latest players rumoured to be targets for the Toon Army:

Mykhaylo Mudryk

The Ukrainian youngster continues to be linked with a host of top clubs across Europe, and rumours are that Newcastle are firmly in the mix. Signing the Shakhtar Donetsk speedster would be a huge statement by the Magpies, and Howe would surely love to add another lively winger to his pack. The wide-attacking position is one that Howe is likely to be looking to improve, with Ryan Fraser and Jacob Murphy failing to live up to the high levels of their teammates at times this season. Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin are the two main wide men at the moment, but Mudryk could add something a little bit different and have opposition defenders quivering in their boots.

Marcus Thuram

Marcus Thuram is being heavily linked with a move to Newcastle in January. The Borussia Mönchengladbach winger has had a very impressive season in the Bundesliga, scoring 10 goals from just 15 starts. This has led to Europe’s top teams looking to secure his services in January, and Newcastle are considering making a move for the French International. At 25, Thuram is in his prime and he has the profile of a player that could have a huge impact on Tyneside.

William Carvalho

Given that Newcastle are somewhat blessed in the centre midfield area at the moment, William Carvalho is perhaps a surprise name being linked with a move to the Magpies from Real Betis. The Portuguese International is currently in Qatar preparing for his nation’s opening game and rumours are circulating that he could be ready to make the move to the Premier League in January. Carvalho has previously seen a move to West Ham collapse at a late stage, but Newcastle, Arsenal, and Leicester are being mentioned as a possible destination for the big, combative midfielder.
