Newcastle takeover rumours spark fan transfer frenzy: ‘Bale could actually be pretty realistic’

Loads of Newcastle supporters have been sharing on Reddit who they want the Magpies to sign this summer, amid talk of a potential takeover by Emirati billionaire Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

It has been claimed the Dubai-based businessman, who is the Chairman of the Bin Zayed Group, had agreed terms with Mike Ashley, that would see the Sports Direct owner finally part ways with United after twelve years for a sum in the region of £350million.

Doubt soon rose over the potential of a deal, however, when club sources poured cold on Sheikh Khaled’s initial statement, by insisting that an agreement was still some way off. There were also question marks over who precisely the Dubai-based businessman is, after it was first thought he was a direct relative of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour.

Whether or not Sheikh Khaled did indeed possess the funds necessary for a takeover was also questioned, as it was suggested the Premier League were yet to receive proof of the funds being reported.

Now, though, the Bin Zayed Group have issued another statement aiming to clarify the timeline of events, in which they claim the Premier League have received the needed documentation.

“In consideration of the numerous speculations in regards to the timelines of the acquisition of Newcastle United Football Club by Bin Zayed Group, we feel the need to issue this statement,” the statement read, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“Terms have been agreed between us and Mike Ashley; these terms have been reflected in a document, signed by both parties, which has been forwarded to the Premier League.

“The proof of funds statement was forwarded to Mike Ashley’s lawyers on April 17 2019.

“The so-called fit-and-proper Premier League process is a standard procedure which will take time, and we are doing all we can to assist the Premier League during this process.

“We feel the need to clarify this point in order for the fans and the general public to understand the timelines.”

Naturally this statement will help to calm any supporters concerns over the potential deal collapsing, but not every supporter had been showing any signs of worry.

Many Newcastle supporters had been sharing on Reddit before the statement was issued who they would like Sheikh Khaled to sign should he take control of our club…
